Downtown Arts needs your help

31 03 2009

Hello Community Members,

The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition will be collaborating this year with us on DownStreet Art 2009, taking on the volunteer coordination efforts. The Coalition is very excited to work with a wide variety of community members to make this year’s DownStreet Art another success.  Last year the combination of galleries, opening events and entertainment brought more than 14,000 visitors to downtown North Adams.  In 2009, the DownStreet Art committee hopes to see even more traffic. Attracting more visitors to downtown is of course an economic stimulus for businesses already in practice.  This project also brings tremendous amounts of vibrancy to North Adam’s downtown streets, by filling what would otherwise be empty store fronts with art.

For 2009, the Coalition seeks volunteers to help attend the various galleries between June 25 and the North Adams Open Studios weekend in mid-October.  Volunteer commitment can vary and be as frequent as every day, all day long to once a week for a two hour shift.  An orientation session will take place in mid-June, as well as optional workforce development workshops for volunteers to take advantage of throughout the summer and early fall.
If you or those you work with are interested in volunteering for DownStreet Art 2009, please email or call Alison Basdekis at 663.7588 or [ mailto:abasdekis@nbccoalition.org ]abasdekis@nbccoalition.org with your availability.

We hope you will join us!
Thanks.
